If you’re here, that means you either purchased, or were gifted one of my hand-painted nature observation journals.

It also means that you might like a little more guidance, or inspiration, for how to use your new journal.

I intentionally left the book’s pages blank, as I personally like to have a lot of freedom for where and how I write in my journals, and I enjoy having space available to sketch, or tape/paste in things that I create or find.

An example of one of my creations:

This past summer I made some ink out of pokeberries that I had in my yard, and I glued in an ink painting that I did on watercolor paper, as it would have made a mess on my journal’s pages (this is an older journal I have, not one my my making).

Sometimes my sketches are pretty:

Other times, they’re pretty elementary:

The beauty in this process is it doesn’t matter what you do, or how you do it. It’s all for you, and all about connecting with nature in your own way.

If you’d like to read a post on why I started my nature observation habit, you can do so here.

Enjoy connecting with nature!
